Split a PDF
Somebody sends a forty page contract and you need pages eleven to fourteen, the scope of work, to forward to your framer. Open the file, click those pages, download. The rest of the document never goes anywhere.

Why you send four pages instead of forty
Every extra page you forward is a page somebody can misread. Sending a subcontractor the whole prime contract when they need the scope invites them to read the payment terms, the liquidated damages clause and the retainage schedule, none of which is their business and all of which will generate questions you then have to answer.
It is also how you keep a customer facing document clean. A homeowner asked for the warranty, not the internal cost breakdown that happened to be stapled behind it.
One file per page, and when you want it
The second download button writes a separate PDF for each page you selected, named with its page number. That is the format a document management system or an insurance portal usually wants, because each page gets its own upload slot and its own label.
It is also the fastest way to deal with a scanner that put ten unrelated documents in one file. Select all, download each separately, and rename them once.
The double sided scan trick
A sheet feed scanner without a duplexer produces a file with every front page first and every back page after, or worse, interleaved. The odd and even buttons are there for that. Select odd, download; select even, download; and you have the two halves to reassemble in merge.
If pages came out upside down because the stack went in backwards, rotate a PDF fixes that without rescanning.
Nothing is uploaded
The pages are drawn and the new file is written by your own browser. A contract with a price in it, a permit with a customer address, a signed change order with a license number: none of it is sent to this site or anywhere else, because there is no server here that could receive it.
That is not a policy you have to trust. Load the page, go offline, and split a file anyway.
Questions people ask
Is my document uploaded?
No. It is opened and rewritten on your own device, inside the browser tab. Nothing is sent and nothing is stored.
Can I keep the pages in a different order?
The split keeps them in page order. To change the order, use delete and reorder pages, which lets you drag pages around before downloading.
Why did my browser ask about multiple downloads?
Because one file per page really does start one download per page. Allow it once and the rest come through.
Does it work on a scanned PDF?
Yes. A scan is still a PDF, and the pages are copied exactly as they are, at their original size and resolution.
What about a password protected PDF?
A PDF that needs a password to open will not load. Open it in your reader, save a copy without the password, and split that.
Is there a page limit?
No. Very long documents take a moment to draw all the thumbnails, and past four hundred pages the tiles are numbered instead of drawn so the page stays usable on a phone.
